Top LiFePO4 batteries

The table below covers 12V drop-in lead-acid replacement battery banks based on lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4).
LiFePO4 batteries are the best choice for home and RV use as they have the longest cycle life, they are non-combustible, have great discharge rate and are generally very safe.

If you're in an area that gets cold (low 30 F or 0 degrees Celsius) you have to make sure that the batteries stay warm and that the temperature doesn't oscillate too quickly and too often. You have three options:

  • BMS with a working low-temperature disconnect for raw cells
  • 12V heater pad (watch out for frequent temp changes)
  • batteries with built-in BMS and low temp disconnect
  • Keep your batteries in temperature controlled environment
Make sure to attach the BMS temperature sensor close to the coldest part of the battery bank, which is usually the bottom. Don't use a cheap BMS as they can fry everything from your inverter or solar charge controller and damage the batteries as well.
